Government Roles and Responsibilities Wrap-Up

We are almost complete our second section of our Government Unit. We have examined the structure of the government, the 3 different branches, the roles and responsibilities of different parliamentary members, and now we are beginning our discussion of the legislative process. We have also begun examining how the process of analyzing political cartoons, because they can be a bit complicated sometimes.

3. Notes: Positive and Negatives of the Senate; Potential Senate Reform
4. Political Cartoons - Senate Reform/Abolishment
5. Law-Making Process: text book activity COMPLETE FOR HW
6. Assigning of Groups for Parliament Simulation

In the next coming classes we are going to begin our simulation of the law-making process. I"m hoping that not only will it lead to some wonderful classroom debates, but it will also bring the process of passing a bill to life and make it a bit more exciting.

HOMEWORK FOR NEXT DAY:
Decide as a group what topic you will attempt to bring before Parliament. One person in your group will be responsible for presenting your bill during the First Reading next day in class.
