  2. We went through first half of population booklet, using a few key themes to guide our study

    • The world rate of population growth is actually starting to slow, and decreasing its rate on each continent.  This is good news for the future
    • Identifying factors that would make a family desire (or feel obligated) to have a large family
Here is the Powerpoint - Population Problem Set #1 to help guide you through the answers to the first half of the booklet.

We will be examining population pyramids as well as the Demographic Transition Model next day.  You will need to be able to read, analyse and infer conclusions from Population Pyramids before the end of the unit.

HW:  Ensure that your 'population pyramid' story is complete (/5 mark assignment).  Read Pages 368-369 and summarize information on India and China's Attempts at Population Control.  We will be examining that in detail in the coming two classes.
