Welcome to Social Studies 10!
Hi there folks, and welcome to Language Adapted Socials 10. We will use this blog as a place to recap our lessons, and where all your powerpoints and files will be uploaded. You will need to check this blog on a regular basis, as well as Microsoft Teams.
The focus of Week 1 was 'The State of the World' and the study of Demography. This is Chapter 11 in the textbook.
In this unit we studied:
- Population patterns around the world - why people live where they live, where places are crowded, where they are not
- The history of human population growth, and what caused it to grow and expand
- The nature of Canada's population, and why immigration is an important part of our growth
- Population Pyramids, and reasons why populations grow and contract
- Issues related to population control - including authoritarian approaches and human-rights approaches
- Connection between poverty and population growth
How were you assessed this week?
- You completed a research assignment on a 'Population Issue', such as the One-Child Policy, or Overpopulation
