Tragedies of War
Today's class was Day 2 in our mini-unit on the aftermath of WWII. Class activities included:
- Review of Political Effects of WWII including the creation and function of the UN, and the onset of the Cold War and the bi-polar world.
- Political Cartoon Analysis of UN and Cold War
- Tragedies of War including Hong Kong, Japanese POW camps, Russian POWs, Firebombing of Dresden, US firebombing of Japan, Atomic Bomb
We then began a discussion on the morals of war, and whether or not we view the actions of "our side" as being more justified or moral than those of the enemy. Next day we will continue the discussion with a viewing of parts of the documentary "The Fog of War" - interviews with Robert McNamara.
