Structure of Government - Sept. 27th
Hola. Topic today was the structure of government.
We reviewed:
We reviewed:
- 3 levels of government (Federal, Provincial, Municipal) including their responsibilities (ex. Foreign policy, trade, etc.)
- 3 branches of federal/provincial government (Judicial, Legislative, and Executive)
- We took a look at the difference between MPs and MLAs
- We set up the classroom and simulated some of the roles in government, and some of the terms like 'Party Whip', 'Free vote', 'Cabinet Solidarity', 'Party Discipline', 'Private Member Bills', 'Cabinet', 'Vote of No Confidence'
- There was a brief powerpoint that we reviewed together today on Structure of Government
- We created a Vocab List of Key Terms for the next couple of lessons. Students had to make a 3 COLUMN CHART (TERM, DEFINITION, EXAMPLE/OWN WORDS/SYMBOL)

- Cabinet, Civil Service/Bureaucracy, PM, Privy Council Office, Cabinet Solidarity, Order-in-Council, Royal Assent, Lieutenant Governor, Governor General, Free Votes, Party Discipline, Backbenchers, Private Member's Bill, Proroguing Parliament
