Intro to Living Standards

Today was our first class as part of our geography unit - our focus was living standards, and our perception of the world and the definition of a "good life". We began with an activity with the Miniature Earth, and discussed how lucky we are to live in North America.

Class Activities:

1. Powerpoint and intro activity - "If the world was a class of 30; If the world were 100 people"

2. Discussion of measures of HDI, and the reasons why its problematic

3. Examples of 4 different levels - video clip of the Dem. Republic of the Congo
