Discrimination Links

Over the past week we have been examining the rise of white supremacy and the KKK in the 1920s and 1930s.   Here is a history of the KKK, as well as a video recounting the KKK in the past and present.

For your assignment, you are going to research some of the case studies of discrimination that occurred in North America prior to WWII.  You will briefly examine:

  • Racism against immigrants and people of colour (Chinese head tax, Exclusion Act, Komagata Maru, Japanese internment, etc)
  • Discrimination against Indigenous peoples in Canada/Turtle Island
  • Gender inequality that existed including First Wave Feminism - which included the fight of suffragettes for the vote
Record 10-12 details in your Part 1 section of the assignment and find 4-6 pictures for next day.
