Parliamentary Debate!

How can the legislative process empower everyday citizens to make change within our society. Understanding the law-making process is an important one, and will hopefully be brought to life in the coming classes. Today's class consisted of the First Reading of our Proposed Bills, and each Cabinet was informed of the proposed ideas that will be presented two classes from today.

Class Activities:

2. Review of "How to Pass a Bill" HW - fill in the blanks
3. Introduction to Video: Canada's Government - discussion questions. This will be continued next class.

SHADOW CABINETS FOR BLOCK 2B:
1. Raising the Minimum Wage to $9.75 - will be opposed by Mallory O'Neil's group
2. Free Public Transit for Students - will be opposed by Bhavik's group
3. Legalization of Marijuana - will be opposed by Sarah Garcia's group
4. Abolishment of Provincial Exams - will be opposed by Nicole's group

SHADOW CABINETS FOR BLOCK 3C:
1. Raising the Driving Age to 19 years - opposed by Anil's group
2. Canada should be transformed into a fascist state - opposed by Stefan's group
3. Legalization of marijuana - opposed by Hamsa's group
4. Voting Age should be lowered to 16 years - opposed by Crystal's group
5. Death Penalty should be reintroduced - opposed by Cory's group
